Fitness & Nutrition Coaching for

Veteran & First Responder Communities

Support for Individuals with Operational Stress Injuries

At J2N Fitness, we understand that operational stress injuries can make getting back to movement/training feel overwhelming. It’s why our goal is to provide a program completely catered to your specific needs and goals, and find options that suit you.

For some, that might mean exploring a custom fitness program that can be done out of the comfort of your own home to limit social interactions in a quiet and controlled space.

For others, it might mean a gentle re-introduction to movement, focused on shorter sessions or lighter movements, building over time once ready.

Whatever your specific needs are, we are here for you each step of the way to ensure that you get the support you need to build strength and confidence in your body – and gain freedom to do the activities you love again.

Darcy has served for 16 years with the Toronto Police Service. He currently serves on the Emergency Task Force Special Weapons Team #1 as Team Leader, rappel instructor and explosive force entry technician.
In 2009, prior to his advancement to the ETF, Darcy took a year off from policing to serve with the Canadian Military in the Close Protection unit in Afghanistan as the body guard for Task Force Commander, General Vance.
Darcy understands the toll public service can have on a person having felt those pressures and battled those demons personally. He learned early in his career staying active and having a physical outlet can have benefits that reach beyond the physical.
Currently, Darcy is a Level 2 CrossFit Coach. He continues to add to his 10 years of coaching experience at Breaker Strength (Toronto) and Task Force CrossFit.

“As a police officer, fitness and movement are a priority for me. However; with my struggles that came with my PTSD diagnosis, fitness was the last thing on my mind. Fast forward to when I was challenged by my therapist and OT to have a goal – physical health came to mind because I thought it would be the easiest. But the thought of crowded gyms spiked my anxiety. The depression held me back with not doing YouTube videos.

Then a great support suggested Jenn to me. Her home gym and working one-on-one has created a safe environment. She holds me to accountable but also Jenn is compassionate and supportive in assisting me however she can with my road to recovery. Jenn is there each step and moving at whatever pace feels safe but also gently pushing those limits. She is a wealth of knowledge in the fitness industry and also with compassion of mental health struggles. Judgement free and welcoming.

Have questions?

Online programming is provided in a user-friendly app, accessible both on a computer and a phone or tablet.

Workouts will be customized based on individual schedule, equipment availability, injuries or limitations, goals, etc.

All workouts include clear coaching instruction with demo videos. Plus, athletes may upload video of their movements for coaching review and feedback as desired. Athletes may also leave notes on how the workout went, or any questions they have.

Ongoing messaging support is also provided via the app.

Of course. We will always meet you where you’re at and ensure that your program is the right fit.

Our goal is to assess where you’re at in terms of areas like strength, flexibility and control and make a program to address the areas you might need most.

With a customized approach to fitness, it also means we can keep it super simple to start. That might mean doing just a few 20 minute sessions per week, and then building up over time and once you’re ready.

Working one-on-one provides a private coaching experience. These sessions can be done in-person (Pickering, home gym) or online via Zoom and are available in both 30 and 60-minute options.

If you’re not ready to enter a gym setting and are looking for a quieter environment, or simply prefer some individual coaching attention, private lessons can be a great options.

Note: Private lessons may be combine with customized at-home programming and/or J2N’s nutrition/lifestyle coaching program.

At J2N, our approach to health is geared around sustainability. Meaning a focus on what will support you not only now, but for years to come.

For most people, strict diets can lead to quick results, but often don’t last long term (and frankly, are often not very enjoyable). Sticking with a strict diet around shift work can be even more challenging!

Instead, we will work together to explore building healthy habits and lifestyle skills that actually work for you.

This may be related to eating more quality food (for example, aiming to eat more protein or vegetables, and finding simple ways to integrate that into your routine) or it could be skills like learning HOW to eat (slowing down, being mindful). It might be looking beyond food and exploring factors like your environment and how to better set you up for success.

“Deep health” is a holistic view of health and lays the foundation of J2N’s nutrition and lifestyle programs.

Cost varies depending on the service(s) being provided.
