Are you eager to be able to show up for your workouts or play at the park with your kids without the constant fear of the next injury or back tweak?

Do you want to sit deeper in your squat, or feel more comfortable in your overhead positions so that you can move more easily in the gym or day-to-day?

This 2-hour online MOVE & FLOW workshop led by GMB Fitness Trainers Jenn Lymburner and Ash Higbee is designed specifically for active adults who are tired of restrictions holding them back from making the progress they’re after, and who are ready to improve their body’s flexibility, mobility, strength and control so they can move with the freedom and ease they deserve.

We will dive into the GMB Fitness Method (a simple structure that can help guide your training with mindfulness at the core), and you can expect to walk away with a brand new tool belt of locomotion (bodyweight only) movements to support your fitness and movement journey!

Meet Your Coaches & Workshop Hosts

Jenn Lymburner

Owner of J2N Fitness, Jenn is passionate helping active adults build resiliency, sustainability and balance on their health and fitness journeys so that they can feel confident in their bodies and stay active for life – WITHOUT adding more training or more strict diets to their already busy (and often stressful) plates!

Locomotion is one of her favourite tools for supporting clients in improving mobility and body control, and reducing the nagging injuries that can come with active living. Plus, it’s been a big part of her own journey as she’s overcome injuries herself! She can’t wait to share it with each of you 🙂

Ashley Higbee

Co-founder of Mom Life Peak, Ash is a Mama of 2, expert in mom health, and truly believes that movement and laughter are the best medicine. She’s passionate about helping moms take back ownership of their health, fitness, body and weight so they can feel their best, look their best, and live their best lives. She has a super power when it comes to simplifying fitness in your day to day life using only your body to heal, tone and sculpt your body.

Locomotion is one of her go to styles of movement as a foundations junkie, because they incorporate the 3 foundations so perfectly: strength, flexibility and control. Once Ash started addressing all these things in her own daily practice, she completely rid her own chronic pain and is able to keep up with her 2 young boys with ease.

“This Locomotion workshop taught me skills I didn’t know I needed. I have awful hip flexion but by the end of the session I noticed I was able to sit more comfortably and deeper in a cross legged sit which I haven’t been able to do in literal years. Very cool stuff!

– Justin (Workshop Participant)

Have questions?

Glad you asked! The goal of incorporating locomotion into your routine is to ENHANCE what you’re currently doing. The better your body moves, the better you can tackle your other activities.

For example:

  • Monkey and Frogger can be used to improve your squat or overhead squat by tackling mobility in ankles, knees and hips.
  • Bear can help improve flexibility in areas like shoulders, spine and hamstrings, as well as build overhead strength.
  • Bent-arm locomotion movements can be a great addition for improving pressing strength.
  • If you play with speed and tempo of these movements, they can be TOUGH and a great conditioning push.
  • If you move slowly, you’ll get to know your body better and create coordination and control that’ll help you move more easily in other areas of your life.

Plus, one of the best parts about it is that all you need is your body and some floor space. It makes it a convenient (and fun!) way to improve on areas that often get neglected in other training programs.

There is no right or wrong way to do these! Everyone starts somewhere, and things like current mobility and fitness levels, previous athletic experience, injuries, etc, all impact how individuals move. When you look around the workshop, you will quickly realize no one person moves the same.

I encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone and enjoy the process instead of worrying about how you look doing it. Ultimately, everyone is there to have some FUN and better their health and fitness.

Yes! You have TWO GMB Fitness Coaches who will be present to guide and support you.

While workshop participants will remain muted during the session (outside from specific Q&A periods), you will get the following coaching support:

  1. Questions can be asked via the “chat” feature. All questions will be answered during the live session. Your Coach may unmute you for conversation when needed.
  2. Participants may choose to keep video on, especially during the movement portion of the workshop (when you try some of the locomotion exercises). This way, the Coach can mention any feedback they see (i.e. corrections) to help you get even more out of the session!

Note: If you’re not comfortable joining via video, no worries. It’s not mandatory.

This workshop is open to all levels of fitness. During our session, we will move through various “sections”, such as presentation/discussion, stretch breaks, and of course, locomotion exploration. What that means is that we won’t be doing locomotion for the entire two hours as I know that would be a lot!

In saying that, participants will be spending time in positions like the bottom of a squat and will be on wrists quite a bit. If you are someone who is new or coming in with injuries, you are encouraged to take rests whenever needed and even watch/take notes if it is too much. You may also reach out to me at [email protected] directly if you are still unsure.

The recording of the workshop will be sent to participants, so you can still tackle it if you can’t make the session live.

Refunds are not available once registration is received. The recording will be sent if you’re unable to make it live.

Yes! You are encouraged to take what you learn and integrate it into your weekly movement routine (ideas will be provided in the workshop). You will receive the workshop recording, which you can go back to and reference anytime.

You can also reach out to Coach Jenn or Ashley directly to learn about course or customized program options.
